Frequently Asked Questions

  • You may have some initial questions at the beginning of the project, but we typically get involved once the building design and architectural documentation are sufficiently developed, minimising the likelihood of major structural changes.

For certain projects, like complex renovations, we can conduct an initial site inspection before the building design is finalised. This helps us assess the condition of the existing structure and provide valuable input during the concept development stage.

  • The timeline for each project varies based on the size of the job and our current workload, so please feel free to inquire. According to feedback from our clients, we typically complete our work faster than the industry standard. This efficiency is due to our experienced team, who handle all tasks in-house. Every team member is a stakeholder in our business, and we take great pride in our work, striving to provide excellent service.

  • At first glance, we provide structural engineering information through documentation and reports, complete with the accompanying forms for certification. Our efforts extend beyond this. We aim to add value to the ‘build’ wherever possible, ensuring that safety and integrity are maintained. Occasionally, the building designer or builder may have pre-nominated certain parts of the structure. We can collaborate with this information and if possible, provide advice to achieve further efficiencies; or otherwise develop a working relationship to understand your specific building preferences. One of the most rewarding aspects of our job is the often-unnoticed effort we put into saving our clients time and money, far exceeding the cost of our services.

  • Yes, we can. We often package these two components of the job together so that we are included in the geotechnical and structural phase of the project. One of the most important reasons for a geotechnical site classification report is so that the structural engineering can be completed to suit the site conditions; therefore, there is no better reason to package the geotechnical and structural engineering together for many residential projects. That said, we can certainly work with any relevant soil classification report that has been completed for the site. On some occasions, further geotechnical engineering advice may be required, such as slope stability analysis & reports, and if this is the case we can assist in obtaining this information as well.
